Who Are Lagos Navigators?
Who are the Lagos Navigators?
We are an informal group of yachtsmen, yachtswomen and local people based in and around Marina de Lagos, Portugal. We are independent of the Marina and of all other businesses in Lagos. There are no membership requirements, although we do require website registration to enable you to submit bulletins, adverts, etc. This is for internet security reasons. We encourage registered users to make contributions to the website and keep the information up to date, and welcome feedback on whether information is out of date, inaccurate, or simply missing.
What do Lagos Navigators do?
On a voluntary basis we work together to help visiting and resident yachtsmen and yachtswomen make the most of their stay in Lagos. We share our knowledge and experience and, starting in September through the winter until June, volunteers run a twice-weekly VHF Net (Ch 09) to keep you informed of what’s going on. The organization of events and activities such as Yoga, Bridge, Darts, Walks and Tiddlywinks is positively encouraged. Anyone is free to organize an event and publish details on the website.
What is in the site?
The site is organized into two distinct areas:
- The provision of local information you may need such as (but not limited to):
- Marine services
- Local Tradesmen and Tradeswomen
- What’s happening locally
- The VHF Net on Ch9
- The publicizing of any social activity
- An Events Calendar
- Classified Ads
- Local Weather and Tide information
Who can post information?
Anyone who is registered with the website is encouraged to submit:
- Up to date information to keep content current
- Submit bulletins to ask for advice, help or to inform users of events
- Post classified adverts
- Send information updates, and add comments or opinions on any of the subjects that have been posted.
- You can add new topics on the Forum if you would like to stimulate a discussion or simply ask for advice.
Why should you register?
The site is aimed at yachtsmen and yachtswomen in, or planning to visit, Lagos, whether they be permanently based here, staying for a period of time, or are just passing through. You can opt to have every “Bulletin” sent to you by e-mail should you wish. If you don’t want to register you can still browse the pages and make use of the information available.
How do you register?
Either click on the Register button on the right, or complete the registration form under “Contact Us”. We never pass on users e-mail addresses to third parties. You may, however, include your email address in adverts and bulletins, if you wish to be contacted by others. To make comments, post adverts or join discussions, just log in using the unique “User Name” you will be allocated after Registration.
We look forward to hearing from you ……………!
