Introduction

This listing shows the current schedule of many, but not necessarily all, of the activities fellow Navigators are organising – and which will be held most weeks throughout the 9-month winter season.  Please let us know if you can help, or if you have any other ideas to keep us entertained, educated or informed!

Monday

 

09:30     VHF Net – Channel 9. 

Catch up on the weather and the news of what’s happening around the Marina, as well as new arrivals, treasures of the bilge and help wanted.

11:00    Life Drawing Class – Marina Art Gallery, behind Cafe J

Tuesday

08:00     Yoga – Gym Room; Marina Club Hotel.

A friendly, informal group who want to increase their flexibility.  All welcome – men included!

10:30    Computer User Group – Artesao

Bring your computing and connectivity problems along and some-one may be able to help.  Or, if you have some expertise, why not share it with a fellow Navigator?

13:00    Bridge Club – Marina Club Hotel, Lounge Bar.

The very friendly group is always happy to welcome new members of any level of skill or experience, including complete beginners! That’s how we all start after all!

18:30 Mexican Train Domino’s – Marina Club Hotel, Lounge Bar or Madness (update on the VHF Net)

A very social game played by cruisers in many parts of the world. Come along a little earlier if you’ve not played before; it’s very straight forward to pick up, and a unique burgee is provided to fly for the weeks winner!!!! The game is also known to some as Double 12.

Wednesday

t.b.a. Weekly Strollers Walk – check the NavigatorsFreeForum for details of each weeks walk, or listen to the VHF Net for details of the planned walks.

Thursday

Line Dancing – Marina Club Hotel Spa Suite 4pm – all welcome – a great way to exercise to music!! No experience necessary and no cowboy boots and hats are expected!

Friday

A chance to prepare for the weekend with the weather and the news of what’s happening around the Marina.

10:30 to 12:00    Portuguese Lessons – Marina Club Hotel, Lounge Bar. 

Drop in on one of the regular lessons with excellent tutor, Susanna.  Get an insight into the language in a very informal and relaxed setting – all you need is some paper and a pen. The focus is on conversation. There’s no long term commitment – join in for another session whenever you fancy!  Only €5 per session. And just €4 if there are more than 5 participants. Some home work may be involved 🙂

19:00 Till Late – Music Group Nights – Marina Hotel Bar

An opportunity for anybody who wants to play an instrument or sing in a “jam session” format. Skill levels are unimportant, enthusiasm is the key! New singers, players and songs most welcome. There is often a jig or dance or two thrown in as well!!

Saturday

07:00 to 14:00    Farmer’s Market – by the Bus Station.

07:00 to 14:00    First Saturday of the Month – Gypsy Market – by the Stadium. 

07:00 to 14:00    First Saturday of the Month – Flea Market – by the Municipal Swimming Pool. 

 

Sunday

12:00 to 17:00    Fun Sailing – Lagos Bay.  Most Sundays when weather permits – please listen to the VHF Net on Ch 09 on Fridays for the latest update and the web site to confirm if the event is going ahead.

Meet at The Lighthouse at 12 noon for a briefing on the course for the day.

 

13:00    Mahjong – Marina Hotel Bar. Come along and learn to play the venerable eastern game involving Pungs, Kongs, Chow’s, Dragons etc. etc. Another social game and one that’s never played out twice.

 

Please Note: If you are interested in Pilates, Swimming, Zumba and Darts, then please contact us and we can put you in touch with some like minded folks who can and do organise regular events.

In addition, Riding for the Disabled has some active Marina volunteers, as do the Nandi Charity Shops. Other “one off” events will be announced on the VHF Net and will be published as a Bulletin.

Ideas for new activities are always most welcome – let us know if you have some ideas.
